This winter I made hot fudge for Christmas gifts, I had no idea how much I loved the stuff until I made over 2 gallons, now I can’t get enough of it!  Gone are the days of buying chocolate syrup for this household.  I use this hot fudge in everything.  It is GREAT in milk, hot or cold.  I also love it in coffee and of course on ice cream and brownies.  It is also wonderful straight out of the jar, not that I know…

The fudge comes together very quickly and tastes amazing.  The dutch processed cocoa powder gives this hot fudge a deep chocolate flavor.  You can use regular cocoa powder, but I really prefer the dutch processed, I think it is the ingredient that makes this fudge so irresistible!

This recipe makes one cup, but I just need to warn you, it is worth it to make a double batch, one cup just seems like it disappears too quickly!  Store leftover fudge in a glass jar in the refrigerator and microwave it for a few seconds before use.  It lasts for at least a month refrigerated, if it doesn’t disappear before that.

Hot Fudge

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 3 Tbs. dutch processed cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup half and half or evaporated milk
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla

In a small sauce pan melt the butter and sugar, stirring it together.  Whisk in the cocoa powder.

Once it is combined stir in 1/4 cup half and half or evaporated milk.

Bring just to a boil and remove from heat.  Add 1/4 tsp. vanilla and stir.
