In my house pizza is a “fall back” meal. What I mean by that is, I go to it when I don’t have another plan. We have others too, such as grilled cheese, breakfast for dinner, quesadillas, nachos, and popcorn with smoothies. What are your fall back meals?
When pizza moved into the fall back category I had to solve the problem of pizza sauce. I started searching and then creating quick and easy pizza sauce. I finally landed on one that takes 5 minutes to make on a day when my kids won’t give me a minute of peace, and 2 minutes on a day where everyone is playing happily (but really, when does that happen at 4:45pm???)
What I came up with tastes great, freezes wonderfully, and is so easy to make. I hope you give it a try, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
- 1 15 oz. can of tomato sauce
- 1 6 oz. can of tomato paste
- 2-3 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. onion powder (if you have some)
- 1/4-1 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes (adjust depending on desired spice)
Quick and Easy Pizza Sauce
Mix all ingredients with a wire whisk in a medium bowl until well combined.
Spread desired amount of sauce on a prepared pizza crust.
Freeze the rest of the sauce in “one pizzas worth” size containers (about 1 cup.)
